APEL recognises the value of learning gained both within formal educational institutions, and through experiential learning. It is a process that enables people of all ages and backgrounds to receive formal recognition for skills and knowledge they already possess. In order to qualify a candidate must have formal qualifications in the building and construction industries, or have significant experience working in the field. Both groups of applicants must demonstrate that they have the required knowledge and understanding to meet the required National Occupational Standards for the Accreditation sought.
